Career Opportunity:

We are currently seeking driven and eager-to-learn individuals to join our team as a Software Developer (SD).

As a SD, you will be responsible for the analysis, design, development and testing phases of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). You will have the opportunity to work with a variety of development tools including front-end, back-end, web, and database technology. The exact development languages and tools you will work with will be based on your knowledge, skills, passion for technology and fit within our team.

An ideal candidate for this position has some foundational knowledge to build upon, which may come in the form of formal education or previous work experience. Candidates who strive for accomplishment and show that they can learn and absorb new ideas and concepts quickly are encouraged to apply.

Training Objectives:

  • In the first 30-Days: You will meet with employee-owners across all levels of the organization to better understand your roles and responsibilities with respect to your department, while also gaining insight in to the history and culture of Andesa. In your specific role, you will start off by learning what our technology does and how it supports our clients in the life insurance industry.
  •  In the first 60-Days: You will have completed our SD new hire training and have read and understood the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) policy. You will start to review and understand the basic architecture of assigned applications and begin to facilitate changes and develop test environments.
  • In the first 90-Days: You should be able to generate your own work and continue building upon what was learned in the first 60 days. You will be expected to utilize critical thinking skills to make recommendations for design solutions.

  Primary Job Duties:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in assigned application(s)by analyzing, designing, coding, testing, debugging, and implementing systematic solutions and enhancements to meet customer requirements;
  • Resolve application-related issues by applying client-specific knowledge, research findings and critical thinking skills;
  • Participate in QA related duties such as creating, performing and documenting effective unit tests;
  • Utilize internal applications such as JIRA to track and implement project requirements on time;
  • Work collaboratively with other teams (i.e. Analysts, Developers, Relationship Managers, Project Managers) to solicit information and ensure smooth transitions of information between departments;
  • Participate in on-call after hours beeper rotation after the training period and as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor degree in Computer Science or another applicable field of study may be accepted.
  • Proficiency in Object Oriented Analysis, design, and one or more programming languages (JAVA, SQL, etc.).
  • Previous experience with web application tools such as Vue, React, Angular, PHP or Node.
  • Experience with MVVM and JavaScript frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking skills to resolve technology issues or address client-related inquiries.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders at all levels.
  • Previous experience in the insurance, finance, quality industries is not required but may be beneficial in the training process.

Compensation and Benefits:

The salary for this position is commensurate with experience. Work Environment & Schedule:

This is a full-time (40 Hours/Week) exempt position. Hours are flexible within core business hours. This position is eligible for up to full-time remote however, you may be expected to travel to client sites or an Andesa office location for training, meetings or team building purposes and dependent upon permement work address.

Physical Demands:

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit/stand for long periods of time; routinely walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
